Investing Newsletter

InvestingIn case you haven't noticed, Money-Zine is really an Investing Newsletter.  In case you've never really looked around, we have taken the website and broken it down into three distinct areas or sections - Investing, Career Development, and Financial Planning.  Each of these sections is further broken down into categories.

When we first put the website together as an "e-Zine," the original intention was to assemble a rather large mailing list and notify the registered users about upcoming articles.  Instead we've been relying on search engine results to drive traffic to the website and we are published in quite a few RSS feeds.  In the future, we may actually execute against the investing newsletter strategy, but right now we are concentrating on adding content to the website.

  Additional Resources

As mentioned, the original design of Money-Zine is broken down into three distinct sections.  Our intention was to offer something that many readers could relate to in their lives.  Over the remainder of this publication, we will discuss each section and the categories contained therein.

Career Development

The Career Development part of the investing newsletter is further broken down into three categories:

Finacial Planning

The Financial Planning section is the largest of the Money-Zine newsletter, covering seven categories of information:

  • Buying a Home - if you are a first time home buyer, we've already got a series just for you. If you're unfamiliar with closing on a home or home inspections, we can help there too
  • Buying Insurance - this is a big category of information that will range from health insurance and life insurance through targeted insurance such as that for cars and homes.
  • Debt Consolidation - this category deals with the harsh reality that many investors have trouble managing their debt.     This section of the newsletter includes information on bankruptcy as well as credit card debt.
  • Buying a Car - just like our home series, this category is dedicated to the second largest purchase you will probably ever make in your life - buying or leasing a car.
  • Tax Shelter - this part of the newsletter has nothing to do with the phony tax shelters out there, but legitimate ways to shelter your income from taxes - especially federal income taxes.
  • College Loan - for some people, college will be the single largest investment in a person that they make.  Our hope is to explain things like student loans better than anyone else on the Internet.  We think we've a lot of great information on 529 plans too.
  • Retirement - a newsletter on investing should cover topics for dealing with today and the future.  This includes information on 401k and 403b plans as well as Roth and Traditional IRAs.

Investing

Our final section is on Investing:

  • Investing - we have an investing category in the investing section.  Not easy to understand, but the articles are - we even have one on investing for dummies.
  • Mutual Funds - this is probably one of the first ways that new investors break into the stock market. Mutual funds are a simple way to quickly build an investment portfolio.
  • Stocks - we've already put together a comprehensive series on stock research and plan to make this category one of the cornerstones of the newsletter.

Definitions and Calculators

Originally we intended to only offer articles as part of this investing newsletter, but we soon realized that we needed to help with a baseline of information too.  This is where the Definitions and Calculators section comes in.

Our definitions section mirrors the rest of the website and is divided into three categories - career, financial and investing which supports the main sections found here.

Our online calculators are some of the best on the web.  Here we've divided these tools into five difference categories - retirement calculators, investing calculators, mortgage calculators, car loan calculators, and personal loan calculators.  These tools have now become an integral part of this newsletter and its publications.

Finally, at one time we were publishing a new article each day; that pace has slowed as we're not just publishing new article but maintaining older publications.  Right now we're publishing about five new articles each month.  Hope you continue reading along with us!
