Work Study

Work Study programs, also known as Federal Work Study Programs, allow undergraduate and graduate students with financial need to earn money towards their higher education expenses.  Students participating in work study will earn at least the current federal minimum hourly wage.  Students are paid by the school they are attending, and wages must be paid at least once per month.  Money will be paid to the student, unless directed to a banking account or to an account used to pay for tuition, room, and board.

Students are only eligible to work enough hours to equal their financial award.  In other words, the student's work study hours, and therefore the total wages received, are limited by the financial award they've been granted.

Work study is one of the three types of federal student financial aid available to students.  The other forms of aid are student loans and grants.
