Direct Loans

Direct Loans are student loans used for both graduate and undergraduate studies.  Under the Direct Loan program, there are four specific types of loans available:

• Federal Direct Stafford/Ford Loans (Direct Subsidized Loans)
• Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford/Ford Loans (Direct Unsubsidized Loans)
• Federal Direct PLUS Loans
• Federal Direct Consolidation Loans

To apply for a Direct Loan, students fill out just one application - the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Parents of students must complete a PLUS Loan application available from postsecondary institutions.
