Visionary Leadership Style

The Visionary Leadership Style was first described by Daniel Goleman in 2002 as one of his six leadership styles. The leader is inspiring in vision and allows others to see how they can contribute to the vision. The visionary leader and followers move together towards a shared vision.
The visionary leadership style is most appropriate to use when the organization needs a new and clear direction to follow. For example, when a start up company is attempting to make a move into the marketplace with a product that is very different than existing products.
