Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence or Emotional Quotient has been described in detail bay Daniel Goleman as another dimension of that goes beyond the intellectual quotient commonly referred to as IQ.  Emotional intelligence is important for a business leader to understand because the skills described can make them more effective in their leadership role.

The five characteristics of emotional intelligence include:

• Self Awareness - Understanding strengths and weakness
• Self Regulation - Being in control over your emotions
• Motivation - Using that inner drive to accomplish tasks
• Empathy - Understanding the other persons point of view
• Social Skills - Relating well to others
