Career Path is the term used to describe the historical sequence of positions held during one's career. It can also be used to describe a future progression of logical jobs that an employee would hold in order to meet their long-term career objectives.
In today's work environment, the employee, their manager and a members of human resources might work together to develop a career path for the employee. Ultimately, the employee themselves are responsible for making sure they have a career path that enables them to achieve their workplace goals.
